Hydraulic Description of Biological Beds – a Generalized Approach

Abstract
The experimental results concerning the hydraulics of selected natural commercial, wetted and mechanically loaded beds were presented. The data were elaborated with the use of the dependence Eu = f(Re) in connection with Windsperger’s equation for estimation of the equivalent diameter. It was concluded that for practical purposes it is possible to employ the equation Eu = CReA for calculation of pressure drop with a good accuracy.
