Abstract
The uniform flow distribution in packed bed columns is very important condition
for their efficient operation. This paper presents the basic requirements for design and
construction of inlet and internal devices that ensure uniform flow of both liquid and gas
phases along the whole height of packed-bed heat and mass transfer apparatuses. The results of author’s studies and industrial experience are presented, as well as available literature data. Inlet devices for initial distribution and internals for redistribution of the liquid and gas phases, are described and discussed.
